Ranveer Singh says ‘83’ failed at the box office because of ‘unfortunate timing’ –

Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83’ was released amid much fanfare last year, but it failed to bring in the moolah. This movie narrated the story of India’s first World Cup victory to a cricket loving nation, but still found few takers. Ranveer Singh, who played Kapil Dev in this drama, recently opened up about the film’s failure.

The actor stated that the mid-pandemic release of ‘83’ may have affected its profits. The actor stated that the movie managed to make around Rs 200 crore in the middle of the third wave and that despite the third wave spreading like wildfire across the world, people stepped out to watch ‘83’. Ranveer told IndiaToday that the poor performance was just a case of unfortunate timing and that theatres in the key markets were shut 48 hours before the release of ‘83’. Adding that the film may not have been profitable in terms of money but ‘83’ remains to be one of his ‘most loved’ performances till date.

Ranveer Singh will soon be seen in ‘Cirkus’, sharing the frame with Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez. Directed by Rohit Shetty, this entertainer is slated for release during Christmas this year. Apart from this, Ranveer will also be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ and the official Hindi remake of Tamil action thriller ‘Anniyan’.
