Rajasthan: Bulldozer Razes 300-Year-Old Shiva Temple In Alwar. BJP Hits Out At Congress Govt

New Delhi: Bulldozers razed a 300-year-old Shiva temple in Sarai Mohalla, Alwar district on Friday, news agency ANI reported.

In connection with the incident, a complaint has been filed with the Rajgarh Police Station.

According to television reports, bulldozers were used to demolish the temple, and cutters were used to remove God’s idols.

In response, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan slammed the Congress administration on Friday.

BJP leader Amit Malviya took to Twitter to accuse the Rajasthan government of hurting Hindu feelings by destroying the ancient temple under the guise of development.  “300 years old Shiva temple was demolished in the name of development in Alwar, Rajasthan,” he tweeted in Hindi.

“Shedding tears on Karauli and Jahangirpuri and hurting the faith of Hindus — this is the secularism of Congress,” he adds.

I have constituted a 5-member committee for the factual investigation of the Rajgarh (Alwar) temple case. This committee will go to the spot, prepare a factual report and submit the report to me,” BJP Rajasthan president Dr Satish Poonia was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

In response, Rajasthan’s Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara said that the removal of the temple’s encroachment began during the previous BJP’s government.

“No collector was asked for or has given permission (for demolition), the municipal board, after orders from its president, took the decision. Govt has taken immediate action, and put restrictions. We’ve given orders to place idols back,” he further said.
