Punjab: CM Bhagwant Mann Announces 25,000 Vacancies For Unemployed Youth

New Delhi: The newly appointed Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann has recently announced 25,000 government job vacancies, said the chief minister’s office recently. The announcement came after Mann’s first Cabinet meeting as Punjab CM. It can be seen as the Aam Aadmi Party’s step toward fulfilling its poll promise of dealing with unemployment in the state.

“The Cabinet has passed the proposal of providing a total of 25,000 government jobs, including 10,000 vacancies in the Punjab Police department and 15,000 vacancies in other government departments,” Mann was quoted as saying after the meeting.

He also released a video on Twitter recently with a caption that read, “The Punjab cabinet has approved notification of 25,000 job vacancies within one month. As we promised before the election, jobs opportunities for our Punjab’s youth will be the topmost priority of the AAP Govt.”

He added that the jobs will be granted appropriately as per eligibility.

Providing jobs to the unemployed youth was among many poll promises made by AAP during the election campaign that led it to beat Congress and BJP in the state assembly polls.

Other poll promises made by AAP were to improve the condition of government schools and hospitals. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had also promised free electricity up to 300 units and Rs 1,000 to be transferred directly to accounts of women above 18 years of age.

AAP also promised to control the drug menace in the state. It registered a historic win in Punjab with 92 seats out of 117.
