‘Projects Launched Today Developed Under Uddhav Govt’: Shiv Sena As PM Inaugurates Metro Routes

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated two new lines of the Mumbai metro 2A and 7, a 35-km long elevated corridor stretching from Andheri to Dahisar, costing around 12,600 crores.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the metro line 2A connecting Dahisar E and DN Nagar (yellow line) is around 18.6 Km long, while metro line 7 connecting Andheri E – Dahisar E (red line) is around 16.5 Km long.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) today said a majority of the projects which were inaugurated by PM Modi today were planned and taken forward when the party controlled the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

In an editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, the Shiv Sena said, “The projects that will be inaugurated by the prime minister are mostly those that have moved forward when the Shiv Sena was in power in the BMC.”

After inaugurating the metro line and other development projects in Mumbai, PM Modi said, “For the first time after independence, India is daring to dream big & fulfil them. A long period in last century was spent discussing poverty, seeking help from world & living somehow. For the 1st time in history of independent India, world trusts India’s resolutions.”

He further stated, “Today, everyone feels that India is doing something essential for rapid development & prosperity. Today, India is full of unprecedented confidence. With inspiration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, sense of ‘swaraj’ & ‘suraaj’ reflects on double-engine govt of today’s India.”

The Prime Minister also launched various development projects in Mumbai.

Modi said that in the last eight years, India has been spending more on its physical and social infrastructure with a futuristic vision and modern approach.

“In the last 8 years, we have changed this approach. Today, India is spending on its physical and social infrastructure with futuristic thinking and modern approach in mind,” he said.

“We have seen the time when the money for the poor’s welfare used to fall prey to corruption. There was no sensitivity regarding tax received from the taxpayers. Crores of citizens had to bear its loss,” Modi added.

The metro lines inaugurated today will be open to the public from 4 pm on January 20th.

The event was attended by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and others.

Meanwhile, in the editorial in ‘Saamana’, the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena said that Bharatiya Janta Party will take credit for the work done by the Shiv Sena and on the other hand, it is resorting to defaming the party by initiating a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) inquiry (into civic projects).

This is a double standard, the ‘Saamana’ editorial alleged.
