Kajol’s Salaam Venky earns Rs 20 lakh on day 1, ‘Bhediya’ and ‘An Action Hero’

Three films – ‘Maarrich’, ‘Salaam Venky’ and ‘Vadh’ released this Friday, December 9 but while they may have received critical acclaim, that hasn’t translated into footfalls at the theatres. Meanwhile, the releases of the previous few weeks like ‘An Action Hero’ and ‘Bhediya’ also have seen a drop.

Amidst the newer releases, the collection of Kajol starrer ‘Salaam Venky’ is better than the other two. It collected Rs. 20 lakh on Friday as per trade website boxofficeindia.com. The collections of the other two films which had lesser popular faces, are even lower. Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta starrer ‘Vadh’ collected 10 lakhs.

Meanwhile, Tushar Kapoor starrer ‘Maarrich’ has managed to get around 5-6 lakhs at the box-office. Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘An Action Hero’ is doing better than the newer releases and collected about 25 lakhs on its second Friday. But overall, the film has performed quite poorly. Trade predicts the lifetime collection of the film to be around 10crore. Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Bhediya’ has managed to garner about 75 lakhs on its third Friday. The Saturday business of the film can be expected to see a jump because last week Saturday collections were higher as well.

The lifetime collection of ‘Bhediya’ can be expected to be over 55 crore as a 60crore total looks difficult with big releases like ‘Avatar’ and ‘Cirkus’ in the upcoming weeks.
