Ex-Air India Pilot Among 6 Arrested After NCB Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 120 Crore

A top official stated on Friday that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) confiscated 60 kilogramme of mephedrone narcotic valued more than Rs 120 crore from Mumbai and Gujarat and detained six people, including a former Air India pilot, news agency PTI reported.

According to Sanjay Singh, Deputy Director General of the NCB, the action was done based on specific information obtained by the Naval Intelligence unit in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

“Following the tip-off, the officials from the NCB headquarters in Delhi and its Mumbai zonal unit conducted a raid at Jamnagar on October 3 and seized 10 kg mephedrone,” he was quoted by PTI in its report.

According to Singh, the NCB team detained one guy in Jamnagar and three others in Mumbai in this connection.

“On Thursday, the NCB team raided a godown located on S B Road in Fort area of south Mumbai and seized 50 mephedrone,” he said, PTI reported.

The anti-drug agency then detained two people, including the cartel’s boss, he claimed, adding that one of the accused, Sohail Gafar Mahida, is a former Air India pilot.

Mephedrone, popularly known as’meow meow’ or MD, is a synthetic stimulant and psychoactive chemical that is prohibited by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
