Coronavirus: As COVID restrictions ease, steps to take if

According to the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 1,225 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours as on Thursday, March 31, 2022. The latest update suggests a considerable drop in COVID-19 deaths, with 28 cases reported in the last 24 hours.

In light of the significant decline in the number of coronavirus cases, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had earlier announced that all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted from March 31, with an exception to wearing face masks and maintaining social distance. The Disaster Management Act (DM Act) that was issued in March, 2020 in order to curb the spread of the SARs-CoV-2 virus “will no longer be invoked for Covid-safety measures. However, masks will still have to be worn in public places,” the statement by the MHA read.

However, given the uptick in cases in certain parts of Asia and Europe, there’s no way we can tell what’s in store for India in the near future. Although restrictions have eased and people have begun resuming their normal routines, it is important to be vigilant.
