Aamir Khan spills the beans on why his character in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is Sikh –

Aamir Khan, who is all set for the release of his much-awaited film, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, recently spilled the beans on why his character in the film is Sikh.

Aamir Khan said that when he read the script of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ written by Atul Kulkarni, the lead character was already placed as a Sikh and it felt ‘organic’. The character and its story would help highlight a very difficult time faced by the Sikh community in 1983-84, the actor told a news portal.

Elaborating further, Aamir added that by making the lead character Sikh, Atul was trying to capture the audience’s emotions. You are actually investing your emotions very strongly in the character, in the incident and then from there on… in the film, the actor told Galatta Plus in an interview.

‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is an official Hindi adaptation of the classic Hollywood film, ‘Forrest Gump’ which starred Tom Hanks in the lead. The Hindi remake will also star Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya. It is slated to hit the theatres on August 11, 2022.
